Levi James Howze
Founder, Unity Art Collective
Levi James Howze is the founder of Unity Art Collective. His canvases explore the eternal conflict of good and evil, a fascination he says was born within him long ago.
His path in art began with recognition at age seven at the 58th Annual Detroit Public Schools Student Exhibition. Later, Toronto's Manifesto Community Projects ignited his belief in art as a catalyst for change, and their commitment to “each one teach one” still resonates with him.
In 2021 he left corporate America to dedicate himself fully to art. Since then he has partnered with GLH Galleries, exhibiting across Washington D.C. and Houston.
Before that, he served as a U.S. Army captain. He trained in Florida A&M University's ROTC, served in the First Signal Brigade in Korea, holds an MBA from the University of Iowa, and has worked as an investment banker. In 2021 he brought an exhibit of prints by Chicago pop artist Hebru Brantley to the Army and Navy Club in Washington, D.C. for Black History Month, celebrating the often-overlooked contributions of African American men and women in World War II.
