Step 1: Designing on a laptop
The tee started on screen. The design pairs a fanged, monster-style face with a green plus sign, a bullseye target and the green UNITY wordmark, laid out in design software on a laptop. The tee was designed from the vision of Levi Howze, Unity's founder.
Step 2: Vinyl and print materials
Around the laptop are the materials that turn a file into a wearable graphic: rolls of coloured vinyl and a small printer, which are used to prepare the graphic for transfer onto fabric.
Step 3: Heat pressing onto a black tee
The last step is the heat press. A blank black tee is prepared next to an open red heat press with a digital display, ready for the design to be pressed onto the fabric with heat and pressure.
